Position Overview
Ultimate Staffing is actively seeking an experienced Equipment and Tool Installation Manager to join their client's innovative team in Durham, North Carolina.This supervisor position is an exciting opportunity for individuals with expertise in managing capital projects and manufacturing startups.
Responsibilities
The Equipment and Tool Installation Manager will:
- Engage with equipment manufacturers to review installation requirements and site preparation needs.
- Participate in factory acceptance testing (FAT) and pre-shipment reviews to resolve potential issues before equipment arrival.
- Develop installation packages in coordination with engineering and facilities design teams.
- Lead contractor qualification, bid evaluation, and selection for installation across various scopes.
- Negotiate contracts with installation contractors and OEM field service providers.
- Manage day-to-day contractor performance, ensuring schedule adherence and quality compliance.
- Oversee equipment move-in, rigging, and all necessary mechanical, electrical, and piping connections.
- Verify utility readiness and maintain installation schedules aligned with construction milestones.
- Track progress against plans, identifying risks early and driving resolution to stay on schedule.
- Own the punch-list process, ensuring all items are addressed before commissioning activities begin.
- Provide support during Site Acceptance Testing (SAT).
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in industrial equipment installation, capital project execution, or manufacturing startup.
- Experience managing installation contractors across mechanical, electrical, and/or piping scopes.
- Direct involvement in site acceptance testing (SAT) or commissioning of complex industrial equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and utility layout documents.
- Proven ability to coordinate across OEM vendors, general contractors, and internal engineering teams.
- Strong working knowledge of site EHS requirements including LOTO and contractor safety management.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering required.
Desired Skills
- Experience with greenfield facility build-out or manufacturing site startup.
- Familiarity with FAT, SAT, and OEM engagement during equipment procurement.
- Degree or equivalent training in mechanical, electrical, industrial, or process engineering; PMP, OSHA 30, or rigger certification is a plus.
- Experience building or scaling an installation function, developing standards, and onboarding team members.

Additional Details
This is a supervisory position with a salary range from $100,000 to $160,000 annually based on experience.
